21.01.2010 PGNiG SA expands operations in Norway

PGNiG SA subsidiary PGNiG Norway A/S will take up a 15 per cent share in licence PL58 on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

The licence's direct operator is E.ON Ruhrgas Norge A/S (30 per cent share). The remaining partners are Nexen Exploration Norge A/S (15 per cent share), Det norske oljeselskap A/S (20 per cent share) and Petoro A/S (20 per cent share).

The geological concept work and interpretation of geophysical data were carried out in their entirety by PGNiG Norway A/S. We obtained our share in the licence based on a licence application submitted to the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy together with E.ON Ruhrgas Norge A/S.

The acquisition of this share in licence PLN558 is a very important element of PGNiG Norway A/S's strategy. This is because the licence is located in the immediate vicinity of the Skarv deposit, in which PGNiG Norway holds 11.9 per cent. Also, it borders licence PL350, in which PGNiG Norway A/S holds a 30 per cent share pursuant to a January 2009 agreement with StatoilHydro Petroleum A/S.
