24.10.2011 PGNiG SA sells 10.2 billion cubic meters of gas in Q1-Q3 2011
In the first three quarters of 2011, Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo SA sold 10.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas, versus 10 billion cubic meters in the same period of 2010. Gas production volume rose to 3.2 billion cubic meters in the first three quarters of 2011, from 3.1 billion cubic meters in the same period of 2010.
In Q3 2011 alone, natural gas sales volume increased to 2.5 billion cubic meters, from 2.4 billion cubic meters in Q3 2010. Natural gas production volume rose to 1.1 billion cubic meters in Q3 2011, from 985 million cubic meters a year earlier.
Natural gas imports stood at 2.2 billion cubic meters in Q3 2011 and 8.1 billion cubic meters in Q1-Q3 2011.
In the first three quarters of 2011, crude oil production was 344 thousand tonnes, compared with 357 thousand tonnes in the same period of the previous year. Lower year-to-date production volume was caused by the fact that one of the customers was temporarily not able to offtake natural gas obtained in the process of crude degassing at the Dębno production facility during Q2 2011. Offtake of such gas is the key requirement for balanced production, and consequently maintaining the crude output at the assumed level. Further, the reduction of the crude output was also caused by an unscheduled repair of the main crude oil storage tank at the Dębno facility, which prevented feeding the crude oil into the pipeline and required the Company to adjust the production volume to match the offtake capacities of the customers to which crude oil is supplied by rail tankers. In Q3 2011 alone, crude output was 127 thousand tonnes, compared with 130 thousand tonnes in Q3 2010.
As at September 30th 2011, the high-methane gas underground storage facilities (i.e. the Brzeźnica, Husów, Strachocina, Swarzów and Wierzchowice underground gas storage facilities and the Mogilno cavern underground gas storage facility) contained approximately 1.8 billion cubic meters of gas, including the volume managed by Operator Systemu Przesyłowego Gaz-System SA and the mandatory stocks managed by the Minister of Economy.
PGNiG SA expects that domestic gas output will increase from the current 4.2 billion cubic meters to approximately 4.5 billion cubic meters in 2015 (measured as high-methane gas equivalent). The Company also plans that domestic and foreign gas output will grow to approximately 6.2 billion cubic meters in 2015, while crude oil output will increase to about 1.8 million tonnes.
In 2012, gas production operations will be launched at the Skarv field in Norway. In 2012, the volume of gas output from the Skarv field will reach approximately 0.24 billion cubic meters of gas and approximately 0.25 million tonnes of crude oil.
The Q3 and Q1-Q3 figures given above are estimates which may differ from the actual results to be disclosed on November 14th 2011 during the publication of results.
