17.12.2015 President of URE approves new gas tariffs
The President of the Energy Regulatory Office (URE) has approved new gas tariffs for PGNiG S.A. and PGNiG Obrót Detaliczny Sp. z o.o. For wholesale customers (customers that buy gas for resale and end users with annual gas consumption exceeding 25 mcm), the average gas price was reduced by 6.1%–6.6%. In the case of retail customers (customers using gas for own needs), the average gas price fell by 2.1%–3.3%.
The average price of gas paid by PGNiG S.A. customers (wholesale customers) was reduced by an average of 6.6% for high-methane gas and 6.1% for nitrogen-rich gas.
The new tariff will be in effect until March 31st 2016.
The amended tariff provides for the following changes in gas fuel prices relative to the previous tariff of PGNiG Obrót Detaliczny:
for high-methane gas (group E) − reduction by 3.3%, including a 3.5% cut for retail customers (tariff groups W-1 to W-4),
for nitrogen-rich gas (group Lw) − reduction by 2.8%,
for nitrogen-rich gas (group Ls) − reduction by 2.1%,
Subscription fees for retail customers, excluding “12T” tariff groups, have been reduced by 10%. This has been the first reduction in subscription fees since 2009. Subscription fees for other customers remain unchanged.
The new tariff will be in effect until March 31st 2016.
This is the third reduction in the price of natural gas supplied by PGNiG Obrót Detaliczny – the previous changes took effect on January 1st 2015 and September 1st 2015.
Rates of distribution and regasification service charges remain unchanged.
The change in gas prices follows from the persistently low prices of crude oil and low prices of natural gas across wholesale markets in north-western Europe, which reduced PGNiG’s total cost of gas below the cost assumed in the calculations of the existing tariff.
