29.01.2016 Stalowa Wola CHP plant terminates contract with CCGT unit general contractor

On January 29th 2015, the Stalowa Wola CHP plant (Elektrociepłownia Stalowa Wola, a special purpose vehicle of TAURON Wytwarzanie and PGNiG Termika) terminated its contract with Abener Energia, the general contractor for the 450 MW CCGT unit construction project.

Abener Energia had failed to keep to the schedule and breached the contract’s material technical terms and conditions which were vital to safe and reliable operation of the unit, as well as to its future efficiency and running costs.

In view of the above, on December 29th 2015, the Stalowa Wola CHP plant demanded that the contractor perform the contract properly or face its termination. As the contractor had failed to rectify the violations on time, the employer resolved to terminate the contract.

In accordance with the contract’s terms, the Stalowa Wola CHP plant will call on the general contractor to carry out a detailed as-built survey of the project. Based on the survey, a thorough completion plan will be prepared in consultation with a professional external advisor. Subsequently, the Stalowa Wola CHP plant, together with TAURON, PGNiG and the financing banks, will decide how the project will be continued and completed.
