12.09.2014 Update on natural gas deliveries from countries east of Poland
Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo SA reports that deliveries to PGNiG SA's customers are continuing uninterrupted despite Gazprom's failure to supply the full volumes ordered by PGNIG. There is no need to withdraw gas from underground storage facilities, which have been filled to capacity before the winter season.
At present, the facilities hold approximately 2.6bn cubic metres of gas - 100% of PGNiG SA's available storage capacities. On September 11th 2014, natural gas supplies provided under the Yamal Contract to Poland at the interconnection points in Drozdovitse (Ukraine), Kondratki (Belarus) and Vysokoye (Belarus) were inconsistent with the nominations made by the Company.
However, the delivery shortfall was lower than on September 10th 2014.
To compensate for the reduced volumes, PGNiG is importing additional gas through the interconnection points in Lasów (Germany), Cieszyn (the Czech Republic) and Mallnow (Germany). The additional imports balance the deficit caused by the reduced gas supplies from the east.
Under the Yamal Contract, PGNiG may order gas supplies up to a maximum daily amount specified in the Contract. The volumes of gas ordered by PGNiG were lower than the maximum volumes, and therefore compliant with the provisions of the Contract.
The reasons behind the reduced gas deliveries are being investigated. PGNiG has not yet received any information from Gazprom concerning the reasons behind reduced gas supplies to Poland.
PGNiG reserves the right to take such steps in response to the reduction in natural gas supplies with respect to the ordered volumes as are provided for in the Contract and other regulations.
As one of the largest European customers for Gazprom's natural gas and a solid trading partner true to its contractual obligations, PGNiG expects Gazprom to be equally reliable. PGNiG expects that the deliveries will be increased to match the ordered volumes.
