18.04.2012 The “PGNiG – Energy Through Knowledge” film awarded at the 55th New York Festivals 2012

PGNiG SA's promotional video won the third place in the "2012 New York Festivals International Television & Film Awards" competition. It emerged as the best European film in the "Film and Video - Industrial Production" category. PGNiG's video is Poland's first corporate film to have been awarded in one of the world's most prestigious competitions. Entries from over 40 countries contended in this year's edition.

"Energy Through Knowledge" features a modern company with advanced technical infrastructure, highly qualified specialist staff and an established track record based on a hundred and fifty years of the gas industry in Poland. The key objective was to produce a large part of the film in the form of a stop motion sequence. The authors were inspired by Godfrey Reggio's "Koyaanisquatsi", featuring music by Philip Glass juxtaposed with imaging based on changing motion speeds, which combines to produce a highly hypnotic impression. The stop motion technique made it possible to achieve the effect usually available in still photography only, called HDR (High Dynamic Range).  It was possible by capturing each frame with triple exposure, creating a hyper-realistic, dream-like image with unusual detail.

The PGNiG corporate film was produced by PrimeMovers sp. z o.o., with Grzegorz Szyroki as the producer, Tomasz Matuszczak as the director and Jakub Giza as the cameraman.

This was not, however, the only distinction for "Energy Through Knowledge," which also received the silver award in the Business-to-Business Web category of the   World Media Festival in Hamburg.
