16.03.2016 New gas tariffs

The President of the Energy Regulatory Office (URE) has approved new gas tariffs for PGNiG SA and PGNiG Obrót Detaliczny. The average price of gas to be paid by wholesale customers (resellers and end consumers with an annual consumption in excess of 25 mcm) has been reduced by approximately 9.5% in the case of high-methane gas and 8.3% in the case of nitrogen-rich gas. Retail gas prices to be charged by PGNiG Obrót Detaliczny sp. z o.o have been lowered by an average of 5.5%.

The downward revision in gas prices follows from the persistently low prices of crude oil and natural gas across wholesale markets in north-western Europe, which has brought down PGNiG’s total gas procurement cost.

The amended tariff provides for the following changes in gas fuel prices relative to the previous tariff of PGNiG Obrót Detaliczny:

  • for households − reduction by an average of 5.3%,
  • for business customers − reduction by an average of 6.8%.

The changes in the gas fuel trading tariff relate only to gas fuel prices. Subscription and distribution fees remain unchanged. Given all the above price components, household bills will be reduced as follows:

  • for customers using gas to prepare meals (tariff group W-1.1) – reduction by an average of 2.5%,
  • for customers using gas to heat domestic water (tariff group W-2.1) – reduction by an average of 3.3%,
  • for customers using gas to heat their homes (tariff group W-3.6) – reduction by an average of 3.6%.

It is a second reduction in natural gas prices in 2016 and a fourth downward revision in the price of natural gas offered by PGNiG Obrót Detaliczny, which gives an average reduction of 16%. The previous changes became effective on January 1st 2015, September 1st 2015 and January 1st 2016.

Both tariffs, for retail and wholesale customers, will come into force on April 1st 2016 and will apply until June 30th 2016. Details of the approved tariff of PGNiG Obrót Detaliczny are available on www.oferta.pgnig.pl and www.ure.gov.pl.
