09.01.2015 PGNiG and LOTOS Petrobaltic jointly explore for crude oil in north-eastern Poland

Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo SA and LOTOS Petrobaltic signed an agreement for joint operations on the Górowo Iławeckie licence in north-eastern Poland.

The cooperation includes the acquisition of a total of 200.4 km of 2D seismics, with reprocessing of archive data. The results, expected in mid-2015, will serve as a basis for the decision whether to proceed to further stages of work on the Górowo Iławeckie licence.

The goal of the exploration project is to find potential crude oil accumulations in Cambrian formations, analogous to those discovered in the Kaliningrad Oblast and Lithuania.

The combined experience and expertise of PGNiG SA, carrying operations on 77 exploration licences in Poland, and LOTOS Petrobaltic, producing crude oil from undersea Cambrian fields in the Baltic Sea, bodes well for discovering significant deposits of crude oil in the north of Poland.

PGNiG SA is the owner of the Górowo Iławeckie licence. The parties’ joint work on the licence marks another step in the performance of the agreement on cooperation in exploration operations concluded on April 5th 2013.
