14.04.2009 PGNiG has submitted a correction of the petition for the approval of the natural gas Tariff

On 14 April 2009 PGNiG S.A. submitted to the President of the ERO a correction of the petition for the approval of the natural gas Tariff no. 2/2009. The correction of the tariff petition is in response to the Request of the President of the ERO that was received on 6 April 2009.

The proposals of PGNiG S.A. mean that the individual user will on average pay approx. 8.5 percent less in part for natural gas, and the price of natural gas for industrial users will be lower by approx. 9 percent. The abovementioned decreases pertain to high-methane natural gas. For nitrogen-rich natural gas, the prices are expected to remain at the same level, which will allow for the decrease of the difference between the price per energy unit (GJ) obtained from these gasses and from high-methane natural gas.
If the President of the ERO would approve the current correction to the tariff petition, the Tariff for natural gas would be in force until the end of 2010. Total payments for all users would decrease by an average of 3.1%, which is the result of, among others, the planned change in the tariffs of Transport and Distribution System Operators.
The price of imported natural gas depends on the average price of oil in the last nine months, which has recently fallen, and from the exchange rate of the złoty in relation to the dollar. While the Polish currency lost 60 percent of its value in relation to the dollar, the European currency loss a mere 10 percent in relation to the dollar.
