23.07.2013 PGNiG SA Posts Two-fold H1 2013 Crude Sales and Production Increase

Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo SA doubled its crude sales year on year in H1 2013, from 223,000 tonnes to 449,000 tonnes. Crude oil production increased more than two-fold and reached 462,000 tonnes in H1 2013, compared with 223,000 tonnes in the corresponding period of the previous year. This marked increase in output and sales followed the launch of production at two key projects - the LMG production facility and the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

In Q2 2013, crude sales grew by more than 150%, from 96,000 tonnes in Q2 2012 to 243,000 tonnes, while crude oil production volume rose to 233,000 tonnes, from 96,000 tonnes in Q2 2012.

In H1 2013, PGNiG SA sold 8.4 billion cubic metres of gas, compared with 8 billion cubic metres in the corresponding period of the previous year. The volume of natural gas produced in H1 2013 totalled 2.25 billion cubic metres, having remained flat year on year.

The volume of gas sold in Q2 2013 was 3 billion cubic metres, similar to the previous year. Production also remained close to the Q2 2012 level, at 1.1 billion cubic metres.

In H1 2013, natural gas imports totalled 5.9 billion cubic metres, including 5.1 billion cubic metres sourced from countries east of Poland. In Q2 2013, the volume of gas imports was 2.5 billion cubic metres, including 2.3 billion from countries east of Poland.

At the end of the day on June 30th 2013, the underground high-methane gas storage facilities (that is, the expanded Brzeźnica, Husów, Strachocina, Swarzów, and Wierzchowice underground gas storage facilities and the Mogilno underground cavern gas storage facility) contained approximately 1.8 billion cubic meters of gas - including the mandatory stocks managed by the Minister of Economy - relative to the 1.5 billion cubic metres on the same day a year ago. This figure does not include the volume of gas managed by Operator Systemu Przesyłowego GAZ-SYSTEM SA.

The volume of heat and electricity sold by PGNiG Termika in H1 2013 totalled 24.28 PJ (H1 2012: 23.2 PJ) and 2.14 TWh (H1 2012: 2 TWh), respectively. The volume of PGNiG Termika's heat sales in Q2 2013 was 5.77 PJ, compared with 5.5 PJ in Q2 2012, while its electricity sales totalled 0.61 TWh in Q2 2013, having remained broadly flat on Q2 2012. The figures provided for H1 2013 and Q2 2013 are estimates and as such may differ from the actual data, to be disclosed on August 14th 2013, when the final results for H1 2013 and Q2 2013 are published.
