17.07.2015 President of the Energy Regulatory Office approves new gas tariff for PGNiG SA

The President of the Energy Regulatory Office (URE) has approved a new wholesale gas tariff for PGNiG SA. The new tariff provides for reduced gas fuel prices.

The average price of gas paid by PGNiG SA customers (wholesale customers purchasing gas for resale and the largest end consumers with an annual consumption in excess of 25 mcm) was reduced by an average of 5.0% for high-methane gas and 4.9% for nitrogen-rich gas.

The new tariff remains in effect until December 31st 2015.

The change in gas prices follows from the persistently low prices of crude oil and relatively low prices of natural gas across wholesale markets in north-western Europe, which reduced PGNiG’s total cost of gas below the cost assumed in the calculations of the existing tariff.

PGNiG also operates a discount scheme for its largest customers and wholesale customers, which will remain in effect until the end of 2016 or, if earlier, until the obligation to submit wholesale gas tariffs for regulatory approval is abolished. The discount amount is indexed to prices on the Polish Power Exchange and depends on the volume and stability of consumption.
